Uganda Reviews Economic Diplomacy Strategy to Deliver Measurable Results

Uganda has reviewed its economic-diplomacy programme with a focus on turning international engagements into measurable trade, investment and employment opportunities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the review examined how missions abroad can identify opportunities and support their conversion into concrete results for the country. Economic diplomacy connects Uganda’s foreign relations with national priorities such as exports, tourism, investment promotion, technology transfer and job creation.

The approach requires embassies and government agencies to follow up investment leads, help Ugandan businesses reach foreign markets and track the outcomes of international agreements. Clear performance indicators can also help government assess whether diplomatic engagements are producing economic value.

The review comes as Uganda seeks to expand value-added exports and attract investment into productive sectors.
